I was fortunate enough to get to attend to official global launch on Nov 7. The Coding for Fun folks especially Brian Keller invited us to bring the Finalizer. Many thanks Brian! I wasn't able to see much of the event as George and I maned a booth and answered lots of questions of how we built the software for the Finalizer. It was great to experience first hand how a neat technology such as .NET transcend cultures and backgrounds. For example, I met some cool French guys that described how cool they thought .NET was while, some of their colleagues preferred to bleed by chasing down pointers. I kidded with them about leaving France just in time to miss the fires (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/11/10/france.riots/). Another incredibly interesting individual was from Adobe Systems. He had a great sense of humor, read very sarcastic, and shared some very funny anecdotes about Adobe in general.
I managed to find time to pick up the goodies. Check out the cool record like packaging.
The event in general was awesome! I really enjoyed the party afterwards, which the guys from OCC aka American Chopper made a guest appearance and brought one of their spectacular bikes. Also, Microsoft brought in "Cheap Trick" and they performed an awesome set. Admittedly, I was never a fan of Cheap Trick, in fact I didn't remember them! However, they ROCKED! They came back for an encore and brought down the house.
If that kind of entertainment is not your thing, there were pool tables, XBOX (not 360's) hooked up everywhere, and a band that took requests for karaoke. The list to sing was really backed up. Indeed, lots of fun! Karaoke is always great fun, because some of the worst performers are the best entertainment! I also happen to run into Richard Hundhausen and to my amazement he could break it down (dance). He's got a great book on Team System which I highly recommend! Among the highlights, I would have to say was being placed on the spot by Carl Franklin, who conducted an impromptu interview for DotNetRocks! I have been a long time listener and have met Carl on several occasions. However, I had never had the pleasure of meeting Rich. He is an extremely intelligent person with a great sense of humor. Now I can't wait until the Orlando launch! See ya there.
